Adelman Travel CEO Attends Global Tourism Summit in Washington
"Open Mind, Open World" is theme of 6th annual forum in Washington, D.C.
MILWAUKEE – (April 12, 2006) – As a member of the prestigious Travel Business Roundtable Organization (TBR), Craig Adelman, president and CEO of Milwaukee-based Adelman Travel Group, attended the 6th Global Tourism Summit in Washington, DC. The event held from April 10 to 12, 2006 was co-hosted by TBR and the Travel Industry Association of America (TIA). Each year, the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) organizes this high-level gathering of senior government officials and industry world leaders.
Key members of the Bush Administration addressed the summit including Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice; Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff; and Secretary of Transportation, Norman Mineta. Government officials from Latin America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East were also in attendance. This year’s theme, “Open Mind, Open World” conveyed the need to encourage cultural exchange, promote better understanding between nations and to heighten economies through increased business and leisure travel. The event helped to raise awareness of the economic impact by an industry that creates more than 220 million jobs and 10 percent of the world’s gross domestic product.
