Guinness, whiskey, captivating culture and scenery- experience it all in Ireland

Adelman’s CJ Crow just returned from an action-packed tour of Ireland which focused on the country’s enchanting pubs and famous drinks in addition to spectacular scenery and captivating culture. “This was my first bus tour and enjoyed every minute of it!” CJ exclaimed.

CJ then headed into the countryside, which included visits to Kilkenny, Blarney Castle and the glorious Dingle Bay. Besides the traditional stops, CJ’s tour took in the Smithwick’s Experience brewery tour, the Dungarvan Brewing Company, where they learned about their bottle-conditioned beers, the South Pole Inn (dedicated to explorer Tom Crean) for authentic Irish Coffee and the Celtic Whiskey Bar for a tasting, chocolate pairing and dinner.

Exploring the pubs in Dingle

No trip to Ireland would be complete without a visit to the breathtaking Cliffs of Mohr, which soar 700 feet above the Atlantic surf. After a scenic walk along the top of the cliffs where CJ was able to soak in the views across Galway Bay to Connemara and the Aran Islands, her group stopped at McGran’s pub in Doolin for lunch and libations.

The beautiful drive back toward Dublin included the lakes and hills of Connemara and an overnight in Westport where CJ participated in a pub walking tour. Back in Dublin, CJ went to the Teeling Distillery, where she sampled aged whiskey. She then paid a visit to Brazen Head, the oldest pub in Dublin dating back to 1198, where she thoroughly enjoyed an evening of “food, folk and fairies,” where myths and beliefs of times past were revealed through captivating storytelling.

CJ found her experience to be “a terrific way to see Ireland.” Experiencing the various pubs, local brews and whiskeys really added to the authenticity of the trip. “The fish and chips were also amazing,” CJ adds. “All in all, the tour was great. With the bus driver and guide being very knowledgeable, I learned a lot of history.”
