Adelman Vacations

Wellness is an essential component to your next vacation

Wellness is one of the fastest growing trends in travel. As Adelman’s Shelly William’s explains, “Wellness as a part of travel is essential to so many travelers these days, because people want to stay connected to their health and fitness routines even when they are on vacation.”  Many resorts and cruises lines have responded by upping their game when it comes to offering a variety of different options to help travelers with their goals, including amenities designed to keep guests on their wellness track, special classes for those just starting out on their wellness journey, and advance classes for those who already make healthy living part of their daily lives.

Adelman’s Cheri Keller is a certified Wellness Advisor and has been escorting a yearly women’s spa group for over 15 years. She recommends that travelers who are really looking to immerse themselves in a full health and fitness experience consider a wellness focused resort such as Canyon Ranch or Marival, in Tucson Arizona.

The philosophy at the Canyon Ranch is to “Live Life Younger.” Guests can explore physical, mental and spiritual aspects to wellness during their stay at this beautiful resort. There is a full menu a fitness classes on land and in the water along with fun activities such hiking, round robin tennis, wallyball, volleyball or ropes course challenges. Guests can relax by the scenic pool or visit the spa for a massage, facial, or body scrub.  “If you are adventurous you may want to try Watsu where a massage is given in the water or Ashiatsu where a trained professional hangs by bars in the ceiling and massages you with their feet,” Cheri added. Guests can take advantage of evening lectures covering a variety of topics such as sleep, aging, star gazing, etc. The Canyon Ranch offers luxury accommodations, delicious dining and even a demo kitchen, where you can participate in a Lunch and Learn and take recipes with you to try back home.

Miraval Arizona Resort and Spa, also in Tucson, offers a different feel. While also featuring a stunning luxury setting, Marival’s goal is for a life in balance. Marival concentrates more heavily on yoga, Pilates, and water classes. Marival even offers classes using horses. In these award-winning and unforgettable equine experiences guests are invited to take a journey of self-discovery as creativity is unleashed, communication is enhanced and so much more. Marival boasts an extensive spa featuring both indoor and outdoor experiences along with body renewal rituals. Overall there are 400 different curated mindful experiences from which guests can choose. Marival’s wellness specialists are very passionate about helping guests pave the path toward a life in balance.

If you would like to explore wellness on the high seas, Cheri recommends a Seabourn cruise.  “The renowned Dr. Andrew Weil, who was instrumental in developing the wellness program at Canyon Ranch now heads up wellness on the ocean, combining mindfulness with spiritual well-being,” Cheri notes. In addition to the mind-full living curriculum onboard each cruise, there are specifically wellness inspired cruises where Dr. Weil will be the celebrity lecturer.
