American Airlines is rerouting flights from Dallas-Fort Worth and Chicago to Beijing and Hong Kong to avoid Russian airspace amid growing geopolitical tensions.
Because the new route is longer and may cause delays for travelers, American is issuing waivers for travel through April 21, 2018. Rebooked travel must commence by May 5, 2018.
This waiver could be extended as needed. Other carriers may follow suit as they evaluate the situation in regards to their operations.
Travelers should reconfirm their flight schedules.
