Due to civil unrest in Brazil, American Airlines issued a travel waiver for the following airports:
• Belo Horizonte, Brazil (CNF)
• Brasilia International, Brazil (BSB)
• Manaus, Brazil (MAO)
• Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (GIG)
• São Paulo, Brazil (GRU)
American’s waiver covers travel originally scheduled through May 29. Rebooked travel must begin by June 3, 2018.
United Airlines’ waiver covers travel to Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo through May 29 and sets varying allowances based on when rescheduled travel takes places.
Other airlines may follow suit as they evaluate the situation in regards to their operations.
Travelers are advised to not only monitor airline flight status with regards to your specific itinerary but should also monitor ground transportation while also being on the watch for demonstrations or other situations that could impact your safety or cause disruption.
