Slow-moving Tropical Storm Tapah is expected to impact large sections of south and western Japan in the coming days. Heavy rain and strong winds from the storm are forecast to start impacting Okinawa and southern Kyushu on Friday, September 20, through Sunday, September 22. The storm may also impact the coast areas on South Korean and China later in the weekend or Monday.
Airlines have issued waivers as follows:
American Airlines: Waivers are valid Sept. 20-21 for travel to Okinawa
ANA and JAL: Waivers are in place Sept. 20-23 to various select airports in the southern islands and western coast of Japan
These waivers may be extended depending on the track and strength of the storm. Other carriers may also offer waivers.
