Travel Alerts

As volcanic activity continues on Hawaii’s Big Island, airlines have extended their already issued waivers for flights to/from/through Hilo and Kona airports as follows:

Alaska Airlines waiver includes travel originally scheduled through May 25, 2018.  Rebooked travel must begin by June 1, 2018.

American’s waiver includes travel originally scheduled through May 25, 2018.  Rebooked travel must begin by May 28, 2018.

Delta’s waiver includes travel originally scheduled through May 25, 2018.  Rebooked travel must begin by May 28, 2018.

Hawaiian Airlines’ waiver includes travel originally scheduled through May 31, 2018. The carrier is making varying allowances based on when the rescheduled travel will occur.  

United’s waiver includes travel originally scheduled through May 25. The carrier is making varying allowances based on when the rescheduled travel will occur.  

These waivers may be further extended if volcanic activity continues or worsens. Other carriers may follow suit as they evaluate conditions in regards to their operations.

Other airports could be impacted if ash clouds become an issue. Travelers are advised to monitor airline flight status with regards to your specific itinerary.
