As the Carolinas work to recover from Hurricane Florence, some of the hardest hit areas are still experiencing dangerous conditions.  North Carolina is experiencing severe flooding with the risk of flash flooding expected to continue until next week.  Officials are advising people to avoid travel in many parts of the state especially south of US-64 and east of I-73/I-74 as numerous roads are closed  including sections of I-95 and I-40. The National Weather Service says Heavy rainfall remains possible in the Northeast states as the remnants of Florence moves across the Mid-Atlantic and New England. Flood watches and warnings are in place for parts of Virginia and West Virginia in addition to North Carolina.

Some airlines have extended their waivers to a few select cities hardest hit by the storm including: 

American has extended waivers for Greenville, NC, Jacksonville, NC, New Bern, NC, Wilmington, NC through Sept. 19

Delta has extended waivers for Jacksonville, NC, New Bern, NC and Wilmington, NC through Sept. 19.

Southwest has extended its waivers to Charleston SC, Charlotte NC, Raleigh/Durham NC through Sept. 19.

Other airlines may still offer waivers as needed. Other travel suppliers may also being extending their waivers to areas still feeling significant effects from Florence.  Check with your airline, travel supplier or your Adelman travel consultant for specific rebooking or cancelation options in regards to these waivers.

Travelers should frequently monitor flight status and reconfirm all travel arrangements on the ground as conditions continue to change.
