Winter Storm Harper is expected to impact travel over the next several days as it tracks across the US and into parts of Eastern Canada.
Airlines including Alaska Airlines, American, Delta, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit, and United are offering flexible rebooking options. British Airways, KLM, SAS and WestJet are also offering waivers. Each carrier’s waivers include different cities relative to their operations and also include different dates for which their waivers are valid over the weekend. Southwest and SAS have already extended their waivers for airports in the Northeast through Monday Jan. 21. Other carriers may extend their waivers as the storm progresses. Other airports could also be impacted by the storm and other carriers not mentioned above may also offer waivers.
Amtrak has cancelled some service for January 19 and 20 on the following lines: Capitol Limited (Chicago – Washington D.C.), Lake Shore Limited (Chicago – New York/Boston) and Cardinal (Chicago – New York). Additionally, they have modified service on Sunday, January 20 for many trains on the east coast. Anyone planning to travel should check their train status at www.Amtrak.com.
Hilton Hotels also announced that for guests whose travel is being disrupted by Winter Storm Harper, modification and cancellation penalties may be waived for stays with arrivals Friday, January 18th, through Monday, January 21st, regardless of travel destination. Other hotels may also offer similar waivers.

As a reminder flight delays in impacted hub cities could cause a ripple effect for other flights not directly in the storm’s path. Travelers are advised to monitor airline flight status with regards to your specific itinerary.
