Nationwide protests are expected to continue across Ecuador. Some of these demonstrations have turned violent. In addition Ecuador’s President Lenín Moreno announced that he and his ministers “are presiding from the coastal city of Guayaquil after Quito’s dangerous descent into “looting, vandalism and violence.”

Some airlines have issued waivers for flights to Quito and Guayaquil as follows:

American Airlines: through Oct. 10
Copa Airlines: through Oct. 11
Iberia: through Oct. 13
JetBlue: through Oct. 17
KLM: through Oct. 17

These waivers could be further extended and other airlines may also offer waivers.

Check with your airline or your Adelman travel consultant for specific rebooking or cancelation options.

Travelers are advised to not only monitor airline flight status with regards to your specific itinerary but ground transportation arrangements should also be monitored as public transportation has been impacted and it may take you longer to travel to/from the airport.  Travelers are also advised to avoid public demonstrations.
