British Airways said Monday it has canceled almost all its flights for 48 hours, affecting as many as 195,000 travelers, due to a strike by pilots over pay.

The British Airlines Pilot Association (BALPA) had given notice to British Airways that they would strike on September 9, 10 and 27, 2019.

British Airways says it has offered the pilots a pay raise of 11.5% over three years but the union says its members want a bigger share of the company’s profits. British Airways said it stands ready to return to talks with the pilots’ union

British Airways is offering full refunds and the option to book alternate dates to all affected travelers.

Flights on BA CityFlyer, SUN-AIR and Comair are not affected.

British Airways is posting updates on its website at https://www.ba.com/strike

In addition American Airlines and Iberia have issued change waivers for their tickets that include travel scheduled on British Airways aircraft to London Heathrow and Gatwick airports. American Airline’s waiver currently includes travel September 8 – 11 while Iberia’s waivers include travel scheduled between Sept. 8-13 and Sept. 26-28.
