One day after Typhoon Faxai struck Tokyo, the area is working toward recovery. Electricity is gradually being restored to parts of Chiba and other prefectures where the storm triggered outages however some customers will have to wait longer, because utility poles were toppled and cables were severed, which still need to be repaired.

Officials say transport links to Narita Airport have been restored. Railway links were reopened on Tuesday morning. Buses were also resuming services after expressways reopened. Travelers are still advised to allow extra time to get to and from the airport.

Airlines are working to restore normal operations on Tuesday, but some including JAL say it may take until Sept. 11 to completely reestablish regular services.  ANA, Delta and JAL still have waivers in place through Sept. 10.

Travelers are advised to monitor airline flight status with regards to your specific itinerary. Travelers should also reconfirm ground arrangements.
